US M54 Gun Truck/M113

The M54 gun truck with M113 hull was a field-modified U.S. Army convoy escort used during the Vietnam War. Built on the 5-ton M54 cargo truck, it carried an armored hull salvaged from an M113 armored personnel carrier in its cargo bed. The combination provided improved protection for the gun crew while retaining the truck’s mobility. Armed with multiple machine guns, these improvised gun trucks delivered heavy defensive fire against ambushes and were used to protect supply convoys traveling Vietnam’s dangerous roads.
